Kangana Ranaut’s highly anticipated political drama ‘Emergency’ is all set for release on January 17, 2025, after a journey filled with hurdles, and its trailer is out.

The actress, who also directs and produces the film, shared the official trailer on Monday, reflecting on the challenges she faced during production.

Despite the controversies surrounding the film, especially accusations from Sikh organizations like Shiromani Akali Dal, the actress remains excited for the movie’s release.

‘Emergency’ delves into the political turmoil of 1975, focusing on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s controversial declaration of the Emergency.

The newly released ‘Emergency’ trailer intensifies the political drama, showcasing the era’s chaos and the powerful figures involved. The film portrays key personalities like Jayaprakash Narayan, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Pupul Jayakar, and Jagjivan Ram, highlighting their roles during this critical period in Indian history.

Ranaut emphasized that ‘Emergency’ is more than just a portrayal of a controversial leader; it explores themes that are still relevant in today’s political landscape.

“It’s a story that isn’t just about one leader, but about the larger struggles for democracy and freedom,” she said.

Producer Umesh KR Bansal added that the film marks the 50th anniversary of the 1975 Emergency and aims to honor the democratic spirit of those who fought to protect it.

“This is not just a historical retelling; it’s a reflection on democracy’s resilience and a tribute to the individuals who stood for it,” he said.

Directed, written, and headlined by Kangana, ‘Emergency’ features a talented cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in his final role.

With music by Sanchit Balhara and G.V. Prakash Kumar, the film promises to be a powerful cinematic experience, challenging audiences to engage with the historical theme.

Produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Renu Pitti, ‘Emergency’ will hit theaters on January 17.
